Hymn Book Music - Creating Music Books with Azz Cardfile

This file is created by Leslie Lewis inspired by Donnie McIlwain's words-only hymn book AZZ cardfile.

I have taken some of Donnie's hymns, found the music for them on the Cyber Hymnal page (http://www.cyberhymnal.org/), added the words where necessary, and pasted them into cards.

The essential part of this process is a commonly-used music-writing program, Noteworthy Composer, available at http://www.noteworthysoftware.com/. Files in NWC format are widely distributed on the Web. The Cyber Hymnal makes scores available in this format. Some of these scores have lyrics, but most don't, so the biggest job (and it's not very big) is copying and pasting in the lyrics and breaking them into syllables.

When the words and music are ready, I do a print preview in Noteworthy. In that window it's possible to put the final product on the Windows clipboard. Paste it into AZZ Cardfile - et voila.

I like to be able to hear the music as I'm deciding whether to use a hymn on Sunday or not, so each record includes a link to the MIDI version of the music at Cyber Hymnal.

This file could come in handy for printing music for the choir. When we change the music of a hymn to something more familiar the choir likes to have a copy with the words and music on the same page. It's easy from AZZ Cardfile.
