USB flash support - portable use of Azz Cardfile

February 14th, 2009 . by Rytis Zumbakis

Pendrive USB memory

One new feature, introduced with Azz Cardfile version 4, is support for USB flash memory drive, also known as USB Thumb Drive, USB Pendrive, USB Memory Stick, USB stick. This deserves exclusive attention, as Azz Cardfile is the kind of program, which you use to conveniently keep most frequently used pieces of information at the fingertips whenever needed - like address or phone book in rolodex, recipes, notes index, and other databases.

This feature allows to carry the program and all .azz data files with you, and use them on any computer anywhere - at work, on someone else’s computer, in hotel or internet cafe.

Click the Flash Drive icon on the toolbar USB wizard icon , and follow the wizard. Use this wizard to copy the program and data files .azz to flash drive and synchronize the .azz files from USB flash to your main PC (in case they were modified while on the move).

Important! Don’t disconnect the flash drive until you have saved all the .azz files from within the Azz Cardfile program. Or use the “Safely Remove Hardware” remove hardware icon (an icon at the bottom right of the screen - in System Tray) to disconnect the flash from computer’s USB port - it will verify whether all files are saved.

USB Flash support almost perfect, still lacks use of relative path support. Open last used file option is broken when the drive letter of the USB flash drive changes from machine to machine.

That’s correct Robert, will try to take care of this in next update, within a month or so.

    John,
I have edited your comment to remove your personal details.

We do not update our database of users. We keep database of personal details for one single purpose - for verifying the fact of AzzCardfile License purchase in case lost. Use old details (given to us upon purchase) when requesting to resend license. And do it through e-mail.

    Thank you, Rytis

What a pathetic way to advertise another product!

“My computer has been stolen …”

At least the poster on the 29th of last month was open about their capitalistic intent!

In terms of AZZcard file: it never fails to amaze me what a clever and useful piece of software it actually is. Probably the most useful thing I’ve ever used for keeping things organised simply and easily.

I have been using AZZ cardfile on USB drives for years since W98. So I guess I don’t understand what is new about using it on a USB drive.

How to import Microsoft Access data to AZZ Cardfile?

Version 3.2 adds a simple diary cardfile that you can duplicate and use for one or more diaries (for example, you could keep a food journal in one and track projects in another). If you can’t decide what to put in your cardfile, you can go to the web site and browse or download sample cardfile collections compiled by loyal AZZ Cardfile users.
