AZZ Cardfile: Error Access Violation in module…

January 31st, 2008 . by Rytis Zumbakis

1. In most cases “access violation” error occurs running versions prior  to 3.3 on Windows Vista machines. The access violation error occurs on exit. This bug has been fixed in version 3.3

2. Other  than above, access violation error is fairly rare (1-2 inquiries/month from estimated 1,000,000 users) but difficult to deal with. Could occur for many reasons, and we did not notice a pattern yet. Such as Windows OS failure, misconfiguration (can happen unintentionally or with “help” of some rogue/baddly written software).

Some things to look into:

1. Completely uninstall AZZ Cardfile, download and install the latest version.

2. Check whether it happens with any .azz file and stored anywhere. Try to move .azz file to some presumably less restricted area on your computer (like My Documents) and doubleclick it there. Try to open sample.azz located at C:/Program Files/AZZ Cardfile/

3. Do you launch the program through network? Do you open data file(s) through network? Do you open data file(s) stored on external disc (FDD, BSD, DVD…)? While none of the above results in access violation error per se, it can be part of the problem. Try to do everything locally on C:

4. If Windows XP/2000/Vista, try to login as admin.

5. Possibly there is a conflict with another software. Try to temporary, one-by-one unload antivirus and other utilities or software that normally run in the background. Don’t forget to unplug the network cable before unloading any security programs!

Sorry if this did not solve your problem. Any additional information and details is most welcome and may help us look into each individual incident and possibly notice a common pattern.

Is Access violation a common problem?

January 30th, 2008 . by brotherdav3

replied to other access violation post but thought it prudent to post this one as well. After several uses of the program , I, too, get an access violation. The error dialog box alludes to ‘Access violation 00405A78 in Module AzzCardfile.exe. runtime violation at 0000040. Nothing much has changed in my system, so i’m wondering if this is a time based problem. I tried the following: uninstall, reinstall with newer version…all to no avail???? Also deleted all references found in registry.

thanx for responses to perhaps this not uncommon problem.
