Cardfile v4 error message - out of memory

July 10th, 2009 . by roger
I have a large file, 193MB, about 800 cards, many images, which although a bit slow sometimes, has worked well.  I have not accesssed it for a few weeks, and now when I try to open it the progress bar goes about 20% across then I get a message “Out of memory”.  If I close this this the bar continues to progress to the end but then just starts again.
If I try import instead of open I get the same message but the import stops.
I have also tried to run it from a stick with the same result
I have Windows XP SP3 with plenty of RAM and  virtual memory
Please can you help - this data took a long time to accumulate and I would be devastated to lose it
Thanks
Roger

Need help with missing code..

July 2nd, 2009 . by gramme

Hi,

I have used the support email address and sent 4 emails and the only thing I ever get back is an automatic response that someone will get back with me. I have been waiting since 6.11.09. Can someone help me or tell me where to go to get some help?

Thanks

Donna

My observation or comments to version 4

June 19th, 2009 . by spiderman66

My observations on the latest version 4:

Difficult or cannot change the default font and size. Default Font is Verdana Size 10 with spacing 6 instead of the old MS Sans Serif Size 8 no line spaces. I prefer the old defaults.

Default Font is Verdana Size 10 with spacing 6 instead of the old MS Sans Serif Size 8 no line spaces. I prefer the old defaults.

Ctrl+Del does not delete whole words but only letters.

One click highlight is not working.

Double clicking name in the cardlist for fast rename does not work.

Right click+E on the card does not change the style to default settings. (I like the the old behavior)

While using the mouse, as it hovers over a phrase with hyperlink, nothing happens. I have to press the control key while pointing to a phrase w/ hyperlink so that the mouse pointer changes to a pointing hand. I like the old behavior, the mouse pointer autimatically changes to a pointing hand when it hovers over a phrase w/ hyperlink.

Nothing happens with Print Preview

I’d like it if I can “save as” to earlier versions, or “export” to earlier version formats.

“The Program has Changed, Reinstall” Message

March 3rd, 2009 . by steve.bruce

I have fully unistalled and reinstalled/registered the program a few times, but I almost always get this error message when I save files.

I mentioned in an earlier email that after configuring my Options, I saved the azzCardfile Settings.ini   file so that I can restore the file when needed for positioning the azz program window on the correct available screen during a terminal server session.  ( I have multiple displays and I often close AZZ on a display that is not available in terminal services. )

I don’t know if restoring the saved .ini file is causing the “Reinstall” message or if it is something else.  Is there a way to stop this message ?

Thank You very much,

Background color on cardlist

October 7th, 2008 . by rudolfuw

I am an old guy, who doesn’t care HOW they work, but loves computers WHEN they work and I especially like cardfile which I have been using for almost 10 years–it’s great!

However, several times now, the background on the cardtitle (left side) turns dark red on me, making the text hard to read.  I try to change it back to a white background, but can’t find the way to do this.  Is this a file error or am I inadvertantly hitting the wrong keys?

Also, our college is switching me to a mac!!!  Are there cardfile versions on mac?

Thanks–you guys are great!   Uwe Rudolf

Cannot open file the system can not find the specified file Error

September 26th, 2008 . by Barry

I am currently using version 3.2c

I have been using this version for quite some time now on Windows XP Home.

This week I have started receiving errors and am not able to shut AZZ down only through Ctrl-Alt-Del and terminate application.

The error reads “Cannot open file “c:\DOCUME~1\OWNER\LOCAL~1\TEMP\(BUNCH OF 0′S)E211046.~H” the system can not find the file specified

Has my database been corrupted or is something else going on here?

cant uninstall

August 22nd, 2008 . by alack

because of a recent malicious attack i need to rebuild my database but have had several problems running my old 3.2 in vista.

i decided to “start fresh” but i cant get rid of 3.2. i tried downloadfing 3.3 but it still opens with 3.2. uninstall removes 3.3 but not 3.2.

if i try to delete 3.2 i get a permission denied message even though my account is administrator. how can i get rid of 3.2 and start clean?

Nothing unuseal about the install zz files in mydocuments, running XP Professional Service Pack 3

Just wonder if its Service Pack 3 causing the problem?

Azz hyperlink feature

May 18th, 2008 . by Norman

I have started creating a rather large database of my cigarette card collection and I like the idea that I can link to various pages on my website to show individual cards in detail.  However, I do find the long URL addresses a liitle unsightly.

Is it possible that a future version will allow selected text to be used as a hyperlink instead of having the full URL addresses showing on the cards?

Help on Editing Icon Links

May 14th, 2008 . by Sam

As a new user of AZZ I am trying different ways of organizing my windows files and folders.  One can easily open a new card and drag a file or folder to the card.  Likewise one can create a link from “Load from File”.

Both work well and give different results.  My question is how can I edit  the “Name” of the link and the “Address/URL”?

I would like to adjust the name to have a list of more descriptive names and Icons.  Also I am adjusting my Folders as I try different ways of using AZZ.
