Help on Editing Icon Links

May 14th, 2008 . by Sam

As a new user of AZZ I am trying different ways of organizing my windows files and folders.  One can easily open a new card and drag a file or folder to the card.  Likewise one can create a link from “Load from File”.

Both work well and give different results.  My question is how can I edit  the “Name” of the link and the “Address/URL”?

I would like to adjust the name to have a list of more descriptive names and Icons.  Also I am adjusting my Folders as I try different ways of using AZZ.

Question about inserting new cards

May 4th, 2008 . by K

I’m a new user (love the program so far) and have a quick question that I haven’t found an answer to yet. If I have AZZ set to not sort the cards by title, is there a way to insert a new card in between two others?

Selecting multiple cards for moving to another file or deletion

April 24th, 2008 . by Rytis Zumbakis
1. Hold Ctrl key on your keyboard and select in List using left mouse.select in list holding ctrl

2. Right-click the mouse in List area, and choose the action: Delete, Copy, or Cut.choose action to delete, copy, move

3. In case copying or moving, open the target .azz file in Azz Cardfile program (it could be new empty or existing file with cards already). Right click with mouse in List area and choose Paste.paste to other file

Access database:

April 19th, 2008 . by Peter S

I’ve recently copied my Cardfile [Version 3.2] program from my home computer to a stand-alone laptop. The program loads with a no card selected notification and I’m not able to access my dictionary database or the sample database. I receive a WARNING “dictionary.AZZ” or “sample.AZZ is read only, or somebody else in network has opened it. The cards will be copied to NEW.AZZ file.

When I exit the program I receive an Access violation at address 0000009 and write of address 011331CE.

How do I fix this problem? Peter S

ps: I mistakenly posted this question in comments to another post.

Security /Permissions Questions

February 22nd, 2008 . by jafra79

Great Product,

I would love to be able to share my file with a group of co-workers but not give them access to copy the file or make any changes to it.  Just read only access.  Is there any way I can do that?  I see under File/Properties/Security an area were the right idea is in place but it doesn’t work.  Any suggestions?

Thanks,

AZZ Cardfile: Error Access Violation in module…

January 31st, 2008 . by Rytis Zumbakis

1. In most cases “access violation” error occurs running versions prior  to 3.3 on Windows Vista machines. The access violation error occurs on exit. This bug has been fixed in version 3.3

2. Other  than above, access violation error is fairly rare (1-2 inquiries/month from estimated 1,000,000 users) but difficult to deal with. Could occur for many reasons, and we did not notice a pattern yet. Such as Windows OS failure, misconfiguration (can happen unintentionally or with “help” of some rogue/baddly written software).

Some things to look into:

1. Completely uninstall AZZ Cardfile, download and install the latest version.

2. Check whether it happens with any .azz file and stored anywhere. Try to move .azz file to some presumably less restricted area on your computer (like My Documents) and doubleclick it there. Try to open sample.azz located at C:/Program Files/AZZ Cardfile/

3. Do you launch the program through network? Do you open data file(s) through network? Do you open data file(s) stored on external disc (FDD, BSD, DVD…)? While none of the above results in access violation error per se, it can be part of the problem. Try to do everything locally on C:

4. If Windows XP/2000/Vista, try to login as admin.

5. Possibly there is a conflict with another software. Try to temporary, one-by-one unload antivirus and other utilities or software that normally run in the background. Don’t forget to unplug the network cable before unloading any security programs!

Sorry if this did not solve your problem. Any additional information and details is most welcome and may help us look into each individual incident and possibly notice a common pattern.

Is Access violation a common problem?

January 30th, 2008 . by brotherdav3

replied to other access violation post but thought it prudent to post this one as well. After several uses of the program , I, too, get an access violation. The error dialog box alludes to ‘Access violation 00405A78 in Module AzzCardfile.exe. runtime violation at 0000040. Nothing much has changed in my system, so i’m wondering if this is a time based problem. I tried the following: uninstall, reinstall with newer version…all to no avail???? Also deleted all references found in registry.

thanx for responses to perhaps this not uncommon problem.

access violation at address ### in module azzcardile.exe. read of address ##

December 21st, 2007 . by stephen

I had to move all my data into another computer. The OS is Windows Professional. Thus far the only program I have a problem with is with AZZ card. I keep getting the following message when I attempt to open the program.

access violation at address ### in module azzcardile.exe. read of address ##

The other computer I had, had the same OS system. I put Azz aside and install the rest of my programs. So I really only have AZZ to install to make my computer perfect.

Update - Dec 26, 2007

After many attempts and using various utilities I was able to install and run Azz Card File.

Database corruption

December 19th, 2007 . by jouni

I had database open, made some small changes and switched to another application. I’ve done this hundreds of time, no idea what would have been different this time:

critical DLL Error -7 [OK]
I pressed OK button and tried to save:

Zip file could not be opened [OK]

Input file does not exits [OK]

Cannot write to C:\Users\admin\Documents\My azzCardfile Files\A8 people.azz

SaveAs operation was successful, at least no error notes.

Trying to open the original database:

“A8 people.azz”: File is being used by another User in Network. The cards will be copied to the new file [OK]

I/O error 32 [OK]

I got empty “Untitled” database with no card titles visible, “no card selected” as current card, but bottom info row tells there is total 257 cards of which 1 is selected.

During holidays I am going to reformat laptop harddisk, get finally rid of Microsoft Vista and install XP. The laptop manufacturer was kind enough to send me XP install disks for free. Said too many people had complained.

Setting the default font for cards

December 12th, 2007 . by Rytis Zumbakis

How do I change the default font for my cards? Please advise. This is something that is missing from your help files.

Go to Tools | Options | View, use Card default: Font

default-font.jpg

Next time you create a card, new default font will be used.

To change font for all existing cards on specific .azz file, go to Tools | Options | View, use “Set font to all cards”.
