Azz hyperlink feature
May 18th, 2008 . by NormanI have started creating a rather large database of my cigarette card collection and I like the idea that I can link to various pages on my website to show individual cards in detail. However, I do find the long URL addresses a liitle unsightly.
Is it possible that a future version will allow selected text to be used as a hyperlink instead of having the full URL addresses showing on the cards?

Norman, first off thanks for introducing AZZ Cardfile on your blog
Yes indeed, next version will have this feature - hyperlinking any text instead of displaying full path in cards.
Please watch for announcements.
In the new Beta version, hyperlinks have become a 2-handed operation, that is, holding the CTRL key so the cursor (in a card) becomes a “hand” indicating a clickable link.
I am a new user to AZZ cardfile and I’m just trying to learn the many features it offers. While using version 3.3c, I had created a database of weblinks for grouping and quick-click access (by “grouping” using ver. 3.3, I mean placing all related web links on a single card (with each card being a “group”).
I have just imported that data into version 4, and to my surprise, the links are no longer clickable (unless I click and hold the CTRL key while clicking).
I can understand how some may like the prevention of accidental clicking, but some may have preferred the “mouse-only”, one-handed, minimum effort to open the desired webpages.
Can the requirement of holding the CTRL be made a user option, either an over all option for the program, or an option set for a specific datafile, group, card, or hyperlink?
Yes - I absolutely agree with Piem.
Any news on likelihood that you will retain all the working features of v3 in v4? I am unable to move to v4 because a number of losses stop me from using it fully.
Piem - “Lock cards” makes hyperlinks clickable without Ctrl. But then of course you can not edit cards. I am lobbying Antanas, the developer, to make this feature an option - with the possibility to both edit and have hyperlinks clickable.
I only have one functional hand, so I know your issue well.
The solution is to have a mouse with side buttons which can be assigned.
I assigned one the key and the other key.
It solves many other issues like this.
I assigned one key CTRL and the other SHIFT
