Have used AZZ for years. Have been using 3.3 with Vista Ultimate. It was working fine, but today it began to have a problem saving changes (error messages). Then suddenly it said cannot find cardfile AT ALL. All the data seems to have disappeared. Any suggestions other than starting over? Thanks. Spencer

Please clarify, you can not find the program or data file .azz ?
If the latter, search your computer for *.azz (star dot azz) to locate in which folder the data file is stored. Start AZZ Cardfile program and use menu item File | Open to load tha data file into the program.

In case data file(s) are lost or corrupted (this can happen in the event of computer emergency shut down, PC hardware or operating system failure), try to recover from backup file(s).

For each data file, the backup file is automatically created (unless you disable this option).

The backup file should reside in the same folder where main data file was, and carry extension .bak. For example, if the file was addresses.azz backup would be addresses.bak .

Locate the bak file, copy to another folder, rename to carry extension .azz and open in the program.

The program could not find the file. It is looking for “F:\AZZ cardfile.bak”. Why the F: drive? I found the backup file, moved it to my documents and renamed it “My Cardfile.azz.” When I try to open it, it still has the F:\ path associated with it, and I can’t figure out how to change that. Can you help? Thanks. Sorry I’m not more techie. Spencer

Hello. Based on past experience, I don’t expect any further help. Based on an old saved version, I started re-creating my cardfile, but the same error have recurred. Clearly, your product will still not work with VISTA, so I will have to uninstall it and find another product. It was a useful program, but tech support was never one of its strengths, and I can’t be bothered with it now.

I would like to scan in some information into azz but have not been able to. Does anyone have direction on how to enter a file that has been created by scanning a document.

Just a quick follow-up. I was trying the new Beta version, so I thought my problems might lie there. I reinstalled 3.3, and it worked fine for a few days but has now started the same behavior: it begins by not being able to save new data; then it says it can’t find the file anymore. Apparently, it just isn’t really compatible with VISTA. I’ve never had a problem on my machines running XP. Has anyone else had a similar problem with VISTA? Thanks. Spencer

I have used AZZ for quite a few years and recently got a new laptop which has VISTA on it. I downloaded the Beta for Vista and find it works good. I had a problem now and again. I found that when I started AZZ I had to manually pick my file to open. But discovered in TOOLS, OPEN AND SAVE I told it to open last opened file. That solved my problem. I expect some glitches with the new Vista version. It helped me to read the instructions! DougThompson

Ronald Jezeski - AZZ Cardfile cards are each like new text editor window. It is possible to simply type text in there, or copy-paste a chunk of text from elsewhere. Insert pictures if necessary.

    Means - sorry for delay.
Please keep your .azz files in Documents folder.

Doug Thompson - do you mean “Open last used data file on startup” does not work? Make sure this option is enabled in Tools | Options | General

Consider this. In Ver 3.2 When an .azz file is opened, if PC is shutdown wihout first exiting AZZCardfile then last opened file may not be registered as last. If open file is to be normal default at AZZ startup then use AZZCardfile exit to register it as last file.

Nigel, you answer your own question. Good computing practice is to exit programs, then shut down computer.

One solution - set “autosave” to short period, during save last used file will register.

Another - use desktop shortcuts to launch specific .azz files.
